Lindsay Bennett was a college student at Tompkins Square University, who was gang raped by Travis Holmes, a member of the Tau Omega fraternity, and two of his accomplices (Wesley Grimes and Carter Pressman).

She was homeschooled by her mother, who she was very close to. Upon completing her high school, she decided to be independent and live a regular life by going to college in New York and continue her studies. She made a few friends and tried to join a sorority
The detectives were called him when her mother personally placed the call when the university tried to intervene. Despite more victims being tracked, Lindsay withdrew her complaint out of fearing the risks for herself.
She committed suicide by the time prosecutions against the rapes and a cover-up at the school were underway, having failed a previous attempt. Justice was given to her posthumously when Joe Dawson, Lindsey's only confidant and another rapist at the school, sold the other rapists out and gave up his own freedom out of overwhelming guilt from not saving Lindsay in time, leading to arrests across the campus and up the chain of command at the school.
