Lizzy Bellamy is a divorce lawyer along with her husband Fred, the couple co-owning their own namesake firm. They were shot and killed in their sleep in a home invasion after they investigated their clients, Ann and Bill Carter, about a Haitian girl named Isabel in their house who was later deported back to Haiti.
It’s revealed she was a child slave in the house before the Carters were caught by the Bellamys, and the couple planned to turn in the traffickers, Miriam and Eric Johnson, who also held captive a Haitian child, Patrick. The Johnsons’ daughter Karen threatened Patrick into killing the Bellamys to stop their efforts, but the trail in the murder investigation led the police to the operations regardless. (L&O: "Chattel")
