Lonnie Jackson is a war veteran and a victim of con artist Andrew Hitchens, who he later murdered.
History[]
Lonnie lost his home and savings from Hitchens' Internet phishing scam after Hitchens stole Lonnie's identity, reducing Lonnie to poverty. Lonnie was furious, as not only had his entire life gone into thin air, but his pride as a capable senior citizen was wounded. He tricked an internet provider into giving Hitchens' information before Lonnie killed him.
Lonnie was placed on trial, with his defense being that he was incompetent from senility to the point his son Paul assumed legal guardianship over him and hired defense attorney Shambala Green. On the stand, Lonnie was proved to be proficient with computers, and then his dignity was questioned on the stand. He was goaded into confessing in testimony he was fully competent, his motive was revenge for degrading his life and self-sufficiency, and even details of his planned killing.
Lonnie was cornered from the admission of guilt, but the prosecution and Green arranged a plea to a reduced sentence, out of sympathy for him in a way justice was still served. (L&O: "Identity")
