Luke Keller is the son of ephebophilic psychiatrist Nicole Keller, who killed his best friend Trey Franklin, when Nicole screamed he was raping her.
History[]
Luke came home after a disagreement with his father. Luke overheard his mother screaming in the kitchen and grabbed his hunting gun. Luke found his mother in the middle of intercourse with an unknown man and when his mother screamed that she was being raped he fired. Luke was devastated when he discovered that the person was his best friend Trey and immediately called the police for help.
When taken to the precinct, he gave his story, and his father picked him up. Luke being allowed to leave angered the Franklin parents because they believed it was unfair that he got off free while their son was dead.
At first, SVU believe that Luke saved his mother from danger but further investigation reveals Trey has nude pictures of Nicole. It was revealed Nicole seduced Trey and another student, Ethan Miller, sending them nude photographs and regularly having intercourse with the despite their age.
When SVU spoke to Luke, he was horrified to hear this news and Nicole lied to him that the detectives would say this. However SVU tell him that his mother lied about the sex being "rape" so she wouldn't be exposed.
At trial, he watched ADA Rafael Barba question his mother by putting inconsistencies that say Trey couldn't have raped her. He was devastated when Nicole lied on the stand, saying Luke was aware of the relationship and jealous because he wanted a relationship with her. Luke nearly believed her statements, almost pleading guilty until his father and the cops persuaded him not to do it, as he did nothing wrong. Luke then went up and gave his own version of the truth. Nicole was thus successfully convicted. While carted away, she shouted after him that she still loved him as a son, but he only gave her sadden look as he walked off with his father, Daniel. Watching him leave, Barba tried to reassure Olivia that if Luke found the strength to testify against his mother, he might be able to even move on with his life, but Olivia was not convinced.
Because of Luke's testimony and his criminal participation being unknowing, he was absolved of charges and never taken to trial. (SVU: "Motherly Love")
