Lyle Morris is the police commissioner of the New York City Police Department, who has crossed paths with the Special Victims Unit.

History[]

Lyle assigned the SVU with an unsolved rape case which statute of limitations were about to expire. When a victim was arrested, he visited Cragen to express his fury at arresting her, to which Cragen yelled at him that they had very little choices and to leave his office or fire him if he didn't like his policework, saying he was committed to finding the rapist. (SVU: "Limitations")

After Dr. Audrey Jackson's evaluation on the detectives came through to Lyle, he expressed his disappointment to Cragen about his unit and ordered that Jeffries be taken off active duty immediately and Stabler see a therapist about his anger as well. He also assigned a permanent ADA, Alexandra Cabot to the unit. (SVU: "Wrong Is Right")
