Marcela Celaya is the murdered wife of brothers Reynaldo and Rafael Celaya.
History[]
Marcela met the brothers in their home city of Newark, marrying Reynaldo. Neither of them were satisfied, so they had affairs, Reynaldo with Patricia Botten and Marcela with Reynaldo's brother Rafael. Marcela wanted to leave Reynaldo for Rafael, so she and Rafael faked her death, leaving Reynaldo to take the rap. Patricia was willing to testify, if it weren't for her husband Paco threatening her out of it because of his own shame to his masculinity. Reynaldo got ten years for manslaughter, and Rafael and Marcela relocated to New York City, where they changed their names to Rafael and Anna Brisenio.
When Reynaldo got out, he got Rafael alone and said he hated Marcela, not him, because they were family. He insisted Rafael kill Marcela out of revenge, while Reynaldo took the fall and argued "double jeopardy" because he was already convicted when she faked her death, meaning the law couldn't rationalize another murder charge due to constitutional rights. Rafael agreed and shot Marcela in her head, leaving her for dead on a hiking trail.
Rafael was originally arrested when his and Marcela's real names were found out, but Reynaldo was arraigned instead when Rafael and he put up the ruse, down to them fighting in the courtroom. Reynaldo was immediately ready with his argument of legal immunity, but when Rafael was found out to be the other man, and he was seen near the site of the murder, Rafael was arrested again. He confessed in interrogation and sold himself and Reynaldo out. Rafael went to prison for murder, Reynaldo for facilitation and conspiracy. (L&O: "Couples")
