Law and Order

Marilyn Nesbit was a child abuser and proxy murderer.

Background[]

Marilyn had three sons, Jacob, Adam, and Daniel. After her husband's death, she became paranoid, constantly deluding herself into believing the worst possible outcome for any interaction with the outside world. To which, she raised her sons in inadequate conditions, starving them when disobeying her and strictly homeschooling them. She wanted nothing more than to always control the lives of her sons, keep them to herself by preventing them from making friend, ever getting married, or meeting people.

While in New Jersey, she treated her son Daniel even worse, regularly beating him because she blamed him for the death of her husband. When Daniel's teacher noticed this and filed a complaint to the Division of Youth and Family Services, Marilyn moved away and left Daniel behind, telling Adam and Jacob that he had died. At one point, she had been diagnosed with BPD, an accusation to which she denied to this very day. Marilyn nevertheless forced Adam and Jacob to accept her abuse, neglect, and harassment as their daily lives and understandings.

Home[]

When the abuse came to the attention of the Special Victims Unit, Marilyn, out of fear of losing them, incited Adam to kill Jacob and then himself. Adam successfully shot Jacob in his head but was unable to commit suicide because the gun jammed when he tried to pull the trigger a second time. When the scheme was exposed by the SVU, she was immediately arrested after her oldest son Daniel got through to Adam who turned on her. Marilyn was dismayed to see that Adam had turned against her and to be reunited with her oldest son who coldly greeted her.

Marilyn was eventually locked in Bedford Hills Correctional Facility for life for three counts of child abuse, as well as counts of first-degree criminal facilitation, reckless endangerment, and murder for hire in the death of her youngest son Jacob, who was shot to death by Adam at her behest. Adam was not charged for the murder and subsequently went to live with his brother Daniel.
