Mario Molinari is a man who knowingly caused an HIV epidemic.

History[]

Mario previously did time for assault and robbing someone with a knife. Mario was a well-known ladies' man who became infected with HIV from an unknown partner. Angry that he got the STD, he began a spree of sexual encounters while indiscriminate of who he slept with. This caused his partners to unknowingly infect others. Mario also did steroids at the club he worked at, sharing needles with his friend/co-worker, who he may or not have infected. Health specialist Dr. Greta Esterman did research into Mario finding out he was the nexus and exposes his condition, causing him to nurse a grudge against her.

SVU Detectives Stabler and Benson found about Mario's sexual spree and suspected him of being involved in Esterman's murder, due to her investigation in him. Mario is located at a hospital and the detectives confront him about Dr. Esterman's death. It turns out he was in the hospital at the time, being treated for pneumonia caused by his sickness. However, Mario is pleased Esterman is dead because she ruined his reputation by exposing his condition. Mario also revealed how he got infected from someone who didn't care, so he chose not to either and believed he could keep up his actions. With this, Stabler then arrests Mario for knowingly giving HIV to people, while Benson tells the protesting Mario that he committed a crime since he knew about his condition and still had unprotected sex without warning his partners about his HIV. Mario was left speechless at this news.

ADA Cabot then charges Mario with statutory rape, reckless endangerment, and attempted murder. SVU also planned to make a poster of him outside of clinics for people to know that Mario was infected and advise them to go get tested. (SVU: "Lust")
