Marlee Beth Matlin is an American actress. She won the Academy Award (Oscar) for best actress in a leading role for Children of a Lesser God and is the only deaf performer to win the award. She also starred in the film CODA and the TV shows Reasonable Doubts (with Kay Lenz), Picket Fences (with Tom Skerritt, Kathy Baker, and Costas Mandylor), The L Word (with Jennifer Beals, Pam Grier, Katherine Moennig, and Dallas Roberts), and Quantico (with Blair Underwood). She was also a contestant on season 4 of the reality show The Celebrity Apprentice (with Gary Busey and Mark McGrath).
She portrayed Amy Solwey in the Law & Order: Special Victims Unit episodes "Painless" and "Parts".
