- This episode is based on the Anna Nicole Smith inheritance case. Anna Nicole Smith wed a much older man who died shortly after the wedding, then spent years fighting his son in court for the inheritance.
- This episode and the next episode, "Working Mom", both feature women who work a double life as interior designers and another job. "Matrimony" had a woman, Kim Triandos, who worked as an interior designer but was also a stripper. "Working Mom" features women, Hillary Colson and Sondra Benton, who also serve as prostitutes.
