Background information and notes[]
- The episode was later adapted into the Law & Order: UK episode "Dawn Till Dusk".
- The loose end of who killed Ken Scofield is revisited in the Law & Order: Special Victims Unit episode "Entitled", the plot of which is continued in the Law & Order episode with the same name.
- According to Law & Order: The Unofficial Companion, the episode was so heavily focused on Briscoe and Logan so as to give Michael Moriarty a rest after suffering a manic episode during the shooting of Breeder, during which his wife was summoned to bring him to a doctor. Stone only appears in two brief scenes here. Moriarty, however, did not see this as an effort to help his mental health and insisted the producers cut his scenes to force him off the show after he accused Attorney General Janet Reno of trying to censor the show and end his career.
