Chief Meredith Bonner is the former chief of the Westbrook Police Department, and the sister of Eric Bonner and the daughter of Judge Clay Bonner.

History[]

When Detective Elliot Stabler arrived in Westbrook to investigate Rita Lasku's abduction, Meredith had one of her officers put Stabler in a cell until it was discovered that Stabler was a cop. When Stabler tried to continue his search, Meredith told him that this was her case, and she won't let him investigate. After Rita was found murdered at a beach, Meredith expressed her condolences to Stabler. (OC: "Missing Persons")

Meredigth and Stabler decided to team up to find Rita's killer after eight other bodies were found in the same beach. (OC: "Beyond The Sea")

Clay fired Meredith and replaced her as chief of Westbrook. She then met with Stabler while drunk to give him case files, before passing out and forcing Stabler to have her sleep over. After waking up, Meredith and Stabler met with the mother of a victim before Eric came under suspicion. When Eric kidnapped Stabler and took him to a church to torture him, Meredith entered the church with her gun and told Eric to back away from Stabler. Eric then charged at his sister, who shot him in self-defense, killing him instantly. (OC: "Original Sin")

Bonner and Stabler teamed up again to investigate Clay for the murder of her mother Karen. During the investigation, Bonner was assaulted by Officer Donald Logan in her home, and Stabler and Donald Cragen were held hostage in a diner. In the end, Bonner approached Clay to arrest him and discovered that he had murdered three people, including Logan. Bonner then arrested Clay with Stabler's help before resigning as the chief of Westbrook. (OC: "Sins Of Our Fathers")
