Michael Baxter is an escaped innocent man framed for the rape and molestation of his stepson, Lee Healy.

He knocked out a guard in the Virginia prison he was moved to and stole his uniform to walk out undetected, then he sped back to New York City to confront Lee because the allegation was a lie. In the middle of a standoff where he was armed, he was shot and nearly killed when an altercation over the truth between him and Lee started to escalate in emotion.
It was revealed Lee lied about the allegations out of trauma and resenting Michael's marriage into the family when Lee's mother Carin was pregnant with Michael's son, Danny. The real rapist was Jeremy, the cousin visiting the night of the sexual assault when the two were kids, harassing Lee into not telling. Jeremy was arrested and Michael was acquitted and dropped of all charges.
While recovering in the hospital, he was visited by Detective Benson who informed him that he will not go back to prison, due to them catching Jeremy. He was pleased by this news and that he would be meeting Danny and seeing his mother Sheila again for the first time in years. (SVU: "Escape")
