Mike Randal Colter is an actor who guest-starred on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, and Law & Order: Trial by Jury.
He starred as Luke Cage on Jessica Jones (with Krysten Ritter and Michelle Hurd), Luke Cage (with Mahershalalhashbaz Ali, Ron Cephas Jones, Erik LaRay Harvey, Theo Rossi, Mustafa Shakir, and Reg E. Cathey), and The Defenders (with Deborah Ann Woll and Elden Henson).
He has also appeared as Lemond Bishop in the television series The Good Wife (with Julianna Margulies, Chris Noth, and Josh Charles) and The Good Fight (with Christine Baranski and Carrie Preston), Malcolm Ward in Ringer (2011–2012; with Nestor Carbonell), Jameson Locke in the Halo franchise (2014–2015) and Agent J's father in Men in Black 3. He also starred on the TV shows Agent X (with John Shea, Jamey Sheridan, and Sharon Stone) and Evil (with Michael Emerson, Kurt Fuller, Dalya Knapp, Christine Lahti, Aasif Mandvi, and Brooklyn Shuck).
Colter met his future wife, Iva, at Rutgers University in New Jersey, while he was pursuing his Masters and she was working on her Ph.D.. The couple married in 2002, ten years after they first met. He also confirmed on the September 27, 2016, segment of The Wendy Williams Show that he has a daughter with Iva. The couple's second daughter was born in October 2018. Colter is the second cousin of actress Viola Davis, who is best known for her role as Annalise Keating in ABC drama series How to Get Away with Murder and Scandal and who also appears in the Law & Order franchise.
