Dr. Michael "Mike" Jergens was a doctor and the prime suspect of three stalking and break-in rapes of women, who he all met during speed-dating. Jergens was tracked and arrested in a sting when Benson lured him to a fake apartment to catch him in another rape attempt. He represented himself for much of the trial and later married his girlfriend, Cora Kennison, while in jail to keep her from testifying against him.
When Cora fell into an irreversible coma following a stroke, suspected to have been caused by Jergens pushing her bulimia and drinking over the edge, Jergens was granted permission to take her off life support before he was sent to prison, despite the objections of her mother. It was revealed Jergens took out a life insurance policy on Cora before she died, the reason he wanted to take the life support quickly, but the law can't give that money. (SVU: "Starved")
