Michael Gerard Tyson is a former world famous boxer and later an actor from Brooklyn, New York City, New York, who guest-starred in the Law & Order: Special Victims Unit episode "Monster's Legacy" as Reggie Rhodes.
His other acting roles include playing himself in the film The Hangover (with Bradley Cooper, Heather Graham, and Jeffrey Tambor) and voicing himself on the animated series Mike Tyson Mysteries.
There was outrage on social media about Tyson starring on the series due to past rape allegations about him and the topic of the series, which was also tweeted about by NCIS main cast actress Pauley Perrette. Despite this, Tyson still starred on the episode. He later mentioned that Mariska Hargitay had been cold towards him on the set and that he noticed she had tried to avoid as much communication with him as possible.[1]
The rape case involving Tyson was previously adapted into the Law & Order episode "Discord".
In November 2024, Tyson came out of retirement to compete in a final boxing match against YouTuber and boxer Jake Paul, which received a large amount of worldwide media attention, primarily due to Tyson's success in his lengthy career as well as the considerable age gap between Tyson and Paul. The match was ultimately won by Paul, with Tyson going back into retirement.
