Mila Hames Lingard is the daughter of suicide advocate David Lingard. Mila was responsible for assisting the suicides of Cyrus Lupo's brother Tom Lupo and Larry Driscoll to frame Bill Nolan for putting her father in prison.

History[]

Mila encouraged the efforts of her father, writing him letters to support him while he was in prison, which she objected against. She followed in her father's footsteps and became a hospice care provider, while also maintaining contacts on right-to-die online communities. Lingard advised her to go by her mother’s maiden name to keep her safe when she studied for nursing. Out of her fury over Nolan publicizing Lingard's case for acclaim, she decided to exploit Lingard's cause to make Nolan take the blame.

Mila used her father's same M.O., from IV machines to the same batch of drugs, to kill Thomas Lupo, who was dying from returning lung cancer. She then reconnected with her summer camp counselor, Larry Driscoll, who was suffering from spinal muscular atrophy. She ensured he'd get a false report of Lou Gehrig's so he'd wish to die, then had Nolan appear on video with Larry to set him up as the mastermind.

Mila was questioned when she fit the description of the witnessed woman at the scenes, but she lied she hadn't spoken to Lingard for years, as well as about how actively involved she was in consulting with the victims. When the video with Nolan was found, the prosecution played right into her plan and offered her immunity, and her perjury led to Nolan's arrest.

When her letters were read over, which voiced her anger at Nolan, she instead was charged with murder. Lindgard personally testified at the trial, but he died from an overdose on the stand, which shook the jury up enough for a mistrial to be declared. (L&O: "Called Home")
