Minonna Efron is a defense attorney. Her primary defense strategy is to argue that people shouldn't be punished for what is inside their heads.
History[]
Efron represents Jeremy Jones telling him in court that there is no reason for him to attack gay people when he himself is gay. With Mason's help, the police locate the bracelet which has the victim's blood on it and Jones' fingerprints. At his bail hearing on the unlawful imprisonment charge, Rafael Barba agrees to a reduction to $5,000 and then has Jones arrested by Olivia Benson and Odafin Tutuola. Jones is enraged, calling his husband by a homophobic slur and spitting in Efron's face. As he is escorted out, she is asked if she is okay, and she confirms it. Having realized the truth about Jeremy: Efron tells them he doesn't just hate gays, he hates himself. (SVU: "Criminal Hatred")
Efron later represents Jenna Scott, a woman accused of sexually her best friend. She refused Assistant district attorney Dominick Carisi, Jr.'s offer of a deal and demanded this be taken to trial. In court, Efron made it seem like the defendant Zoe Greene was secretly having a consensual relationship with Scott by revealing the two had sex in college several times and implies she knew it was her masquerading as a man. However, A.D.A. Carisi came up with a strategy to break Scott's defense by turning off the lights to identify Zoe in the dark like she said Zoe knew it was her in the dark. Scott believed the person to be Zoe, but it turned out to be her husband who was devastated by her infidelities. Scott's inability to recognize her own husband destroyed this defense and she was found guilty. (SVU: "The Presence of Absence")
