Mississippi

The State of Mississippi is a southern state of the United States, achieving statehood in 1817, a former western territory of Georgia until being ceded to the federal government in 1802. The state was a founding member of the Confederate States of America.

Jefferson Davis, the President of the Confederacy, was from Mississippi. The state is the only one to still have the Confederate battle flag on its flag.

There is a Lutheran Ministry College in Jackson. (SVU: "Misleader")

In 1998, a black church was burned down by Robert Lee Redburn of the Ku Klux Klan. The fire killed two of the preacher's children. (L&O: "Genius")
