Monica Russo is a woman who was raped by Markeevious Ryan.
History[]
When Monica first reported she had been raped, the officer in charge dismissed the case, finding it unimportant since Monica was a stripper. This enraged Monica and left her with a hostile and uncooperative personality, which made the detectives frustrated when she reported the rape again.
She tried to take matters into her own hands by harassing Ryan at his business, leading to her arrest. Ryan also promised to sue her, should she keep it up. SVU bailed her out and DA Dara Miglani represented her and had Monica speak to the public about her rape, so as to draw out other victims. This worked in their favor, as more victims of Markeevious came after Monica gave a speech.
After Markeevious was arrested and taken to trial, his attorney Elana Barth was rough with Monica, often trying to trigger her anger. However, Monica and A.D.A. Carisi managed to get Markeevious to take the stand, where he snapped and confessed to raping Monica because he announced no woman rejects him.
As a result, Markeevious was found guilty and imprisoned, to Monica's joy. Monica thanks Benson and Carisi for helping her, by making a mural to them. (SVU: "She Paints For Vengeance")
