Na'imah Haruna is a Nigerian girl and the brother of Ajani Haruna, who were both smuggled into New York City to be sold as modern slaves. Na'imah was rescued after Ajani was later found murdered, and the smuggling ring was disbanded.

History[]

The Harunas were tricked into being smuggled into the United States with false promises of a better life. Instead, the smuggler, Martin Bosa, hid them in cargo units and kept them in chains while they were told to wait to be purchased as slaves of contemporary times. The two siblings each had one of twin animal charms to keep each other close and remember to unite with each other.

Na'imah was purchased by Marion Laymon and forced into laborious housework as an imprisoned, isolated child servant, with Laymon's maid supervising the demands Na'imah was subjected to. Ajani was found murdered and mutilated due to Allan Shaye, a professor and closet pedophile having bought Ajani to sexually abuse him and then kill and dismember him to cover up the crime.

Na'imah was tracked and rescued when detectives investigated Ajani's murder and were led along the trail of Bosa's ring. The Layton couple and their staff were arrested for their crimes and participation in the ring, and Ajani was properly identified by his charm being found in the possession of Shaye's wife Maggie. When Shaye was convinced to take a plea when the remaining remains of Ajani were found in his possession, Bosa was tracked and arrested, and the ring was taken apart with all captive living children rescued. Na'imah was given back Ajami's charm and arranged for protective custody to return her to safety. (SVU: "Ritual")
