Officer Nick Riley was a witness to the murder of Hannah Gray.

History[]

After Bishop shot up a nightclub and murdered Hannah, Riley told Cosgrove that the scene was chaotic and he thought that the shooter was gone by the time he got there. Later, after Bishop was arrested, Price ordered Cosgrove and Shaw to talk to Riley after a witness claimed that he saw Riley sitting in the car as the witness chased Bishop. Riley accuses Cosgrove and Shaw of throwing them under the bus and finishes talking when they have evidence that he let the shooter run past him.

Price claims that they need Riley to identify Bishop but Riley tries to say that he didn't see the shooter and insists that he saw nothing. Price then threatens Riley with criminal charges until Riley finally tells them that he saw Bishop run from the crime scene. Later, Price tells Riley that he will be addressing his misstatements and tells him to remain calm. Riley mentions that he has three cousins and an uncle who are also cops and that he's been a cop for a while.

Riley then takes the stand and admits that he claims he didn't see the shooter because he didn't want anybody to know that he was sitting in his car the whole time. Bishop's lawyer then attempts to make it seem as if Riley was lying but Riley claims that he froze and stuck by his word that he saw Bishop flee from the crime scene. After Bishop gets found guilty of murder, Riley commits suicide. (L&O: "Heroes")
