Nicky Guzman is the murderer of gangster José Urbano.

Guzman shot Urbana four times in his torso and three in his crotch outside a church fair. As the Puerto Rican community knew who Urbano was, they wouldn’t sell out Guzman. It was revealed Urbana raped Lucy Rivers, the younger sister of Guzman’s girlfriend Alicia. Guzman consulted with Father Robert Torres about the murder and then got the Rivers family gun belonging to Alicia’s grandmother Anna to kill Urbano.
Guzman was given up by Anna to protect Alicia when she was arrested, and she was released so Guzman could be tried. Famous Texas lawyer Chet Burton defended Guzman, failing to exclude certain evidence, so he instead pulled in the heart strings of the jury by arguing he defended Lucy’s honor, arguing Puerto Rican citizens were known for such standards. In spite of the prosecution finding Guzman was an affiliate of Urbano, revealing other motives, the jury acquitted out of sympathy. (L&O: “The Secret Sharers”)
