Nina Cassady was a detective partnered with Detective Ed Green.

Cassady came from an Irish family of police officers and was born in Queens. Her brother Jimmy served in the 97th Precinct. She also has a sister-in-law and niece. She has also attended Sunday school for six years.
Cassady was transferred to the 27th Precinct after participating in a shootout at a beauty parlor, which led to the press giving her the nickname "Detective Beauty Queen". Her arrival was controversial, as Lieutenant Anita Van Buren, the precinct commander, had someone lined up to be Detective Joe Fontana's replacement and Green's partner. Van Buren was overruled, however, after all of the extra publicity Cassady had garnered for the police department. Van Buren became very concerned about Cassady's lack of experience and made that very clear. (L&O: "Fame")
In "The Family Hour", she botches an interrogation after losing her temper and coercing a suspect who was close to confessing and the suspect gets so enraged, he throws a chair through a glass window. Van Buren calls Cassady out on her unprofessional behavior after being on the job for eight months and suggests that she might not have a future with the 27th Precinct anymore. Cassady later gives a strong performance on the witness stand in court. Despite this, Cassady was replaced by Detective Cyrus Lupo by 2008.
