Nyle Brite is a controversial fashion designer and a suspect in the murder of his estranged daughter, Sarah Bell.

History[]

Nyle was problematic from a multitude of issues, including addictions, affairs, public outbursts and altercations, and physical abuse of his wife Deborah. Before his marriage, he dated a model for Ford named Susannah, who was pregnant with their daughter Chloe after three weeks. Nyle had moved on to Deborah, so Susannah took Chloe to Paris to raise her when she was 12. Despite being a lacking husband and father, he set a trust fund up for his family.

Chloe came back to New York City, after changing her name to Sarah Bell, going to college and working in escort services. When Nyle’s chief designer Teddy brought Sarah as a plus one to his party, Nyle was horrified by the turn or her life, stopped the party, and ordered everyone to leave. Teddy, having been furious playing second fiddle to Nyle after wanting his own line for years, took advantage of the situation by eliciting Sarah for blackmail, having her send flowers to Nyle with the message that she was armed with the truth. Nyle stormed over to her apartment high, pleading to be a family with him, then forced his way in and jumped her when she tried to get him to leave.

Teddy shot Sarah and rolled her in a rug when she was ready to stop the blackmail, out of a mixture of trauma and sorrow from her father. Nyle becomes the obvious suspect when the truth is revealed, but he only admits to attacking Sarah, lying she punched him first. When Nyle has a breakdown on TV during another one of his stupors, specially raging at Teddy from finding out his scheme, Teddy was furious the company and his own chances gonna be thrown away and shot Nyle five times at his private townhouse, leaving a present witness alive. Teddy’s studio was found, proving his motive, and a full confession was elicited once he was confronted in a sting. (CI: “Rispetto”)
