Judge Oscar Briggs is the judge presiding over the trial of Daniel Pryor for the rape and facilitated gang-rape of college porn actress Evie Barnes.
History
When Pryor found out Evie was a porn actress, he manipulated his friend Matt Cooper into luring and gang-raping Evie at a party in the bathroom, the whole assault being filmed. Cooper was singled out and took a plea deal to confess in exchange for testifying against Pryor, the one rapist wanting a trial.
Briggs presided over the trial, where Evie testified how the two lured her to the bathroom and gang-raped her during the party, filming the rape and using films she starred in against her. Cooper testified Pryor lied and said Evie would want the rape because porn starts always like to have sex. Pryor than said after the rape to Cooper that Evie was indeed raped and they needed to lie to not go to jail
From both testimonies, the jury found plenty to find Pryor guilty. However, to the horror of everyone in the courtroom but Pryor, Briggs overturned the verdict in a jury nullification, weakly trying to reason the act with an open scolding of Evie for her adult film work and saying she set herself up to be vulnerable enough to be raped without justice by how she handled her body just for a college fund. A.D.A. Barba lividly approached the judge and called the verdict unethical and a danger to future rape victims, but the judge just threatened Barba with an arrest in contempt, accepting an appeal and releasing Pryor. When Cooper was imprisoned and Pryor was released, Evie quit college and fully went into the adult film business because of Briggs' final nail in the coffin. (SVU: "Pornstar's Requiem")
