Oscar Silva is a Brazilian climate change denialist and a victim of a non-fatal poisoning during a global warming summit in New York City, relating to a custody battle involving his wife Dana,
History[]
Oscar married Dana when she ran off with her daughter Nicole to escape Nicole’s father, Dr. Phillip Shoemaker. Phillip was arguing Dana was a bad mother for Nicole, so Dana fled to Brazil and married Oscar to avoid extradition and arrest for kidnapping in America. When Oscar came to a symposium for global warming in the U.S., he blackmailed one of his rivals in the debate, Dr. Everett Brown, for money in the custody battle, using evidence of Dr. Brown’s fraudulent data compilations as leverage.
Phillip infiltrated the event with a stolen ID and poisoned Oscar with Ritalin. As Oscar had an aneurysm and high blood pressure, he hemorrhaged at the podium and was taken to the hospital. After Dr. Brown was cleared, Dana’s arrest warrant was discovered, and she was detained when she tried to flee to Brazil with Oscar yet again. After Phillip was also arrested for poisoning Oscar, the custody battle reinitiated. Dana’s parents, Nelson and Sharon Lehman, sided with Phillip and staged a disappearance at sea of Nicole to paint Dana as unfit. It didn’t work, and they were arrested too for fraud.
Oscar was still in critical condition by the time the case concluded. (L&O: “Brazil”)
