She is a naive woman who doesn't seem to understand the trouble that her husband is in and is kind towards Richard's enemies, particularly Manfredi, unaware that Manfredi strongly dislikes her as a result of Manfredi being a bigot.

She loves Richard dearly and often gives him plenty of affection, which aggravates Richard's ex-wife Angela, who holds a grudge towards Pilar.
