Background Information and Notes[]
- The title appears to be spoofed from two sources:
- The infamous statement in the People v. Turner verdict by presiding judge Aaron Persky regarding the acquitted defendant.
- The subsequent 2020 film Promising Young Woman, which is reportedly in response to the propaganda caused by the trial.
- This episode marks the 500th appearance of Olivia Benson on SVU (not counting crossover appearances on other shows).
- This marks the first appearance of Carisi's mother, Serafania Carisi, as she is meeting Amanda Rollins for the first time. He had stated that he did not want her to meet Rollins until they had made their relationship public. They discuss this and make the relationship public two episodes ago in "If I Knew Then What I Know Now".
- Carisi mentioned that his boss, Lorraine Maxwell, was intrigued by the idea of charging rape as a hate crime, though she had to remind him about the lack of precedent. Like the victim in this episode, Maxwell had been assaulted by a member of a Harvard University final club, which was mentioned also in the episode "If I Knew Then What I Know Now".
- A previous SVU ADA, Kim Greylek, had mentioned she wanted to be the first ADA to charge rape as a hate crime in the season 10 episode "Trials", though she never got the chance.
- Carisi's mentor, Rafael Barba, attempted to charge Jeremy Jones with hate crimes against homosexual men despite him being one in the season 14 episode "Criminal Hatred." Judge Delilah Hawkins, however, tells him to drop that charge after a successful challenge by Jones' attorney, Minonna Efron.
