Law and Order

Rafael Celaya is the widower and murderer of Marcela Celaya, who's under the alias of Anna Brisenio, with the help of his brother Reynaldo Celaya, who was previously her husband.

History[]

Marcela faked her death and changed her name, framing Reynaldo for the murder and getting him imprisoned for ten years so she and Rafael could be together. Rafael was fully on board with the plan, but by some unexplained turn, Rafael decided to make it up to his brother when he got out of prison. They both planned to kill Marcela after her release, Rafael doing the deed while leaving Reynaldo to take the fall in hopes he couldn't be tried due to double jeopardy.

Marcela, then identified as Anna, was found shot dead on a park trail where Andy Corvo died, also from murder. Rafael's real name is matched with Marcel's previous identity, as she still used her legal social security, and he was arrested since his alibi was weak. He was allowed to go into a gas station bathroom to vomit, which is where evidence of a woman named Hanna Meyer being kidnapped was found in the mirror at the scene.

When Rafael was brought to the precinct, he tried to pin the blame on Reynaldo. Considering his past criminal record and Marcela's real name, it worked, and Reynaldo was arrested and arraigned. However, he argued his constitutional right to double jeopardy, saying he was convicted of his wife's murder, which was fake, but he admitted to killing her the second time, when he already served time, meaning he couldn't be tried again and he was ready to sue for false imprisonment.

However, the whole conspiracy unraveled when Rafael was revealed to be the other man she left Reynaldo for. When Rafael was alone in interrogation, he confessed to the murder, saying Reynaldo convinced him when they met again and he wanted to make amends by making Marcela pay. With this, the brothers were imprisoned, Rafael for murder and Reynaldo for facilitation. (L&O: "Couples")
