Councilman Richard Durban is an openly gay city politician. He and his family would constantly get harassment for his orientation, and even his ex-wife Marjorie took years to come to terms with his identity and became one of his closest allies. He allowed an escort named Joe Gibb to run his services out of Durban’s home, and he would constantly dramatize altercations with one of his biggest opponents, Councilman Kevin Crossley.

Crossley shot Durban out of being furious about his voting jurisdiction being redistricted to have more representation for constituents, which would’ve ultimately ruined Crossley’s political stamina. A campaign of slander to Durban and numerous other gay men turned the trial into a circus, and the police offered a mea culpa as having blackmailed a witness along with the defense as part of their legal warfare.

In the end, Crossley was released after a mistrial, and Logan was demoted to patrol duty after punching Crossley for a sideways remark out of the corner of his mouth to provoke him. (L&O: “Pride (L&O)”)
