Richard Joseph Libertini (May 21, 1933-January 7, 2016) was an American actor who portrayed three different characters on Law & Order.
Libertini was a character actor with more than 100 film and television credits to his resumé. His more memorable roles include Frank Walker in the comedies Fletch and Fletch Lives (featuring Chevy Chase), Geezil in Popeye (featuring Robin Williams), and his breakout role of General Garcia in The In-Laws. Libertini was a series regular during the first season of the sitcom Soap (featuring Roscoe Lee Browne) and portrayed three different characters on Barney Miller (featuring Steve Landesberg). He also appeared on Murder: She Wrote (featuring Angela Lansbury and Jerry Orbach) and L.A. Law (featuring Corbin Bernsen, Harry Hamlin, and Blair Underwood),
Libertini also had an extensive career as a voice-over artist with roles such as the Thief Djion on DuckTales and the animated film DuckTales the Movie: Treasure of the Lost Lamp, Pinky and the Brain (featuring Michael McKean), The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest (featuring George Segal, Robert Foxworth, and Robert Patrick), and The Zeta Project (featuring Erika Alexander),
From 1963 to 1978, Libertini was married to actress Melinda Dillon, who guest-starred as Jenny Rogers in the Law & Order: Special Victims Unit episode "Blood". He died of cancer on January 7, 2016 at the age of 82 in Venice, California.
