Ronald Hawk is a private investigator and an accomplice of actress and murderer Christine Mayfield. Hawk had an affair with Mayfield during her divorce and child custody proceedings, which Hawk was paid to survey while Mayfield slept with the judge on the case, Harold Frye, to make the verdict go her way. Hawk found out Frye was ready to rule in favor with her estranged husband, director Clay Darren, and passed it onto Mayfield.

Mayfield stole one of Hawk's guns and shot Judge Frye's wife, couples' therapist Dr. Monica Frye, through the window of the Frye home kitchen. After publicly disgracing Clay, Mayfield left the gun back where she found it and framed Hawk for the murder. Her son Clay Jr. was forced to make a video accusing Hawk of aggression, faking tears using a technique Clay taught Mayfield.

When Major Case realized the truth, Hawk was brought for interrogation. While Clay and Mayfield watched, Hawk ratted out on Mayfield for all her actions, including boasting right to Hawk's face she shot Monica and can get away with it, even by framing Clay. Clay was furious and confronted Mayfield, leading to Mayfield shamelessly confessing all her crimes and getting arrested.

It's unknown what penalties Hawk faced for his crimes. (CI: "Courtship")
