The seventeenth season of the police procedural drama series Law & Order: Special Victims Unit premiered on NBC on September 23, 2015 and concluded on May 25, 2016. The season consists of 23 episodes. It was the final season to include Richard Belzer as John Munch as well as the final season to feature Warren Leight as showrunner until his return in the twenty-first season.
