The second season of the police procedural drama series Law & Order: Special Victims Unit premiered on NBC on October 20, 2000 and concluded on May 11, 2001. The season consists of 21 episodes. This is the first season to include Ice-T as Odafin Tutuola, Stephanie March as Alexandra Cabot, Tamara Tunie as Melinda Warner and B.D. Wong as George Huang, as well as the last season to include Michelle Hurd as Monique Jeffries; she left due to a conflict with Richard Belzer. It is also the first season to feature Neal Baer as showrunner. This season aired alongside with Season 11 of Law & Order.
