A twenty-fifth season for the police procedural drama series Law & Order: Special Victims Unit was ordered on April 10, 2023. It was slated to premiere in September 2023, but due to the 2023 Writers and Screen Actors Guilds Strike, the season was postponed. It premiered on January 18, 2024 and concluded on May 16, 2024. The season contains 13 episodes, the shortest amount in the show's history, thereby beating the record previously held by the twenty-second season. This season is the second to have an overarching storyline, similar to the fifteenth season. It is also the first season since the twenty-first season to not have a crossover with any other series in franchise, featuring no other characters from Law & Order and Law & Order: Organized Crime. It aired alongside Season 23 of Law & Order and Season 4 of Law & Order: Organized Crime.
