The seventh season of the police procedural drama series Law & Order: Special Victims Unit premiered on NBC on September 20, 2005 and concluded on May 16, 2006. The season consists of 22 episodes. This is widely considered to be the best season of SVU and the most successful, due to several Emmy wins and nominations, including Hargitay's Emmy win. This was also the first season to include Tamara Tunie in a main cast role. This season aired alongside with season sixteen of Law & Order and season five of Law & Order: Criminal Intent.
