Sarah Witmer is the private legal defender for the Moon Bay Crew surf gang trio and the gang's enabler, Gray Campbell, the father of one of the members. Witmer engaged in a legal battle with Ricardo Morales during a preliminary hearing where Morales was proving her clients were a legally legitimate gang and needed to be tried under according statutes. Witmer was present since the defendants' arrests and searches of property for evidence, discrediting the lowest member on the group and trying to pin all crimes on him, briefly barring detectives from the trace evidence burned in the fireplace in Gray's study, and trying to argue the gang wasn't a gang and the Campbells were never criminals.

None of it worked, as the statutes for trying the four defendants as a gang were officiated by the judge, leading to Gray pleading for no jail time and selling out the other gang members, with Gray's son Carlton Campbell and Logan Rudman pleading guilty to murder and Patrick Scott pleading guilty to manslaughter, being sentenced to state prison time.
