Sean Ridgway is the murderer of his football star brother Darryl Ridgeway and two other people.

Sean was always the black sheep of his family, with his parents doting on and grooming Darryl for his successful future, while Sean was beaten and harassed regularly by his father Howard. While Darryl grew into fame in football, Sean accumulated a criminal record and a heroin addiction. Sean participated in a yacht ride with Darryl, his agent Adam Makris, and Adam's girlfriend Julia Eastman. Presumably out of jealousy and rage, Sean killed Darryl, then Adam and Julia, ostensibly to eliminate witnesses. Sean threw them all in the ocean and returned to shore alone before going on the run.
Julia washed ashore, starting the investigation. When Sean was determined to be a suspect, he attempted to commit suicide via drug overdose but was resuscitated, then arrested. Howard made Sean take a guilty plea and confess in full, but his mother Miriam made a withdrawal from Darryl's bank to present the lie that he was still alive. Once the lie was unraveled, Sean furiously lambasted his family and decided to withdraw his guilty plea, instead arguing that the victims killed each other, while he killed Darryl in self-defense. Sean was called out by the prosecution on using the same excuse in his other charges.
Sean was ultimately found guilty on all charges of murder and imprisoned. However, some of the prosecutors questioned Sean's guilt, since Darryl's and Adam's remains had yet to be found, while some details in the case were unclear. (L&O: "Maritime")
