Serafina Carisi is the mother of Dominick Carisi, Jr. and his sisters.
History[]
A devout Catholic woman, Serafina raised her children with strong religious views. After Amanda Rollins had problems in her pregnancy, Carisi notified his mother and Serafina went to church to light a lantern for her to recover. (SVU: "Patrimonial Burden")
When she was in her forties, she discovered she was pregnant with her fifth child. She confided only in Sonny of this news, as she didn't wish to upset her husband that she was planning to have an abortion because the child had health problems. Following this event, she and Sonny grieved together. (SVU: "The Burden Of Our Choices")
Rollins and Carisi attended a dinner at Serafina's house which was also attended by Serafina's granddaughter, Mia Morino. Serafina explained Carisi's father's absence and then they all ate dinner. Serafina encouraged Rollins to eat more of her food and her dessert. (SVU: "Promising Young Gentlemen")
After Carisi and Rollins decided to get married, Rollins told Benson that Serafina was planning the real wedding, which explained why she didn't attend the informal wedding ceremony. (SVU: "And a Trauma in a Pear Tree")
