Shane Mills was a teenager who raped his teacher Sarah Trent.

Shane suffered from sex addiction, which eventually culminated in him raping Sarah. After Sarah begged for leniency, Shane pleaded guilty to third-degree rape and was to serve 18 months in a rehabilitation center for juvenile sex offenders for treatment to dismiss all charges and expunge his record. However, he was warned that if he screwed up, Shane would have to complete the full seven-year sentence and become a registered sex offender.
He was later attacked at the center, having his arm broken before being raped. His rapist, Earl Romaine, a registered sex offender, was sentenced to life imprisonment for this and two other rapes and identity theft, and the corporation which owned the rehabilitation center in which he was raped was filed the same charges and paid Shane $1,000,000 in exchange for not filing a lawsuit. The center was shut down, all its employees were arrested for accessory to rape, and all clients were transferred to safer juvenile facilities, whilst Shane continued his treatment at home.
