Stanwood is a dirty police officer from the 37th precinct. He was a member of the criminal police gang The Brotherhood, which primarily consisted of members from the 37th precinct. Stabler went undercover to infiltrate the gang and crossed paths with Stanwood several times.
Stanwood was later arrested by the Organized Crime Control Bureau for his corrupt actions as a police officer and was imprisoned along with every other member of The Brotherhood, excluding Frank Donnelly who committed suicide before he could be arrested.
