Steven Turner is a producer for a news studio where serial rapist Harold Coyle is employed. Heidi Sorenson has a flashback and accuses Coyle of rape, opening an investigation. Mark James, widower of Amy James, reports Amy being raped by Coyle and committing suicide, citing Steve as the most informed of Amy's rape.
Steve asserted none of the allegations were true and that Heidi's contract was running out to replace her with Margery Evans, the first person she told about the rape. When Margery publicly defended both Heidi and Coyle, more women came forward and accused Coyle, leading to a trial.
It was revealed the whole crew knew about Coyle's rapes, including Margery, a rape victim herself, which Heidi never knew amidst her warnings to Margery about Coyle. When Margery demanded a tape of the rape back from Coyle, she recorded Coyle attempting to rape her again before she ran off, then gave it to the police.
Coyle took a plea of prison time, and the studio paid settlements. It's unknown if Steven was charged and imprisoned for obstruction, harassment, tampering, perjury, accessory, and/or conspiracy. (SVU: "The Newsroom")
