Susan Coyle is the mother of both Shannon Coyle and Brian Coyle.
History[]
Susan's children, Shannon and Brian, were both born from an affair with married socialite Jason Connor, who already had wife Debra Connor and son Aidan Connor. Jason was planning to leave Debra for Susan, and in the meantime, Susan pretended a "Barry" Connor was the father of her children. Jason and Susan panicked when they found out Aidan and Shannon began to date, forbidding them from seeing each other, which failed to work.
Shannon cried to Jason when she got pregnant, which Jason, out of horror, responded to with the truth. Shannon, in her own shock, pushed Jason away and fell back, dying from hitting her head. Jason left Shannon in an alley and told Susan everything, both of them agreeing to cover up the murder so they could still run away together.
Susan kept up the ruse when detectives started investigating, then started her one-way ticket plane and meeting with Jason. But Debra shot Jason dead in a rage when confronting him over the affair, and Susan was later taken into custody with Brian.
Susan revealed the truth about Shannon's death at the station. She was arrested and imprisoned for being an accessory after the fact (SVU: "Families")
