Talia Balsam is an American actress who portrayed three different characters on Law & Order and Law & Order: Criminal Intent.
Balsam is known for her portrayals of Mona Sterling on Mad Men (featuring Elisabeth Moss, January Jones, Vincent Kartheiser, Rich Sommer, and John Slattery) and Cynthia Walden on Homeland (featuring Claire Danes, Mandy Patinkin, Amy Hargreaves, Timothée Chalamet, Valerie Cruz, and Jamey Sheridan). She also had a recurring role on HBO's Divorce (featuring Becki Newton, Dean Winters, Yul Vazquez, and Jeffrey DeMunn).
Balsam is the daughter of actress Joyce Van Patten, who guest-starred in the Law & Order episode "Extended Family" as Ramona Stark. She is also the cousin of Grace Van Patten, who guest-starred in the Law & Order: Special Victims Unit episode "October Surprise" as Jodie Lanier. She has been married to actor John Slattery, who made two appearances on Law & Order, since 1998; they have one son together, Harry Slattery. They live in SoHo, Manhattan.
