Terry Donovan is the father of Julie Donovan, who was beaten to death.
When the prime suspect was identified as Mike Kona, a world-famous boxer who was arrested for two burglaries and a rape that were dropped, Terry shot him to death inside the 16th Precinct after a failed attempt to get a confession to the murder. Julie's real killer, a gang leader named James McDonnell, was later crushed to death by a garbage truck while fleeing from the police.
