Background information and Notes[]
- Julia Ormond joins the cast with this episode as Dr. Paula Gyson. She is billed as "Also Starring" and sequenced after Jay O. Sanders' title card.
- Aired out of sequence; was intended to air as the season premiere. but aired after "Rispetto" to provide some continuity through Goren's psychiatric sessions.
- Hannah mentions that Goren's psychiatric sessions were mandatory for him to be reinstated as his superiors thought Goren had mental issues that made him unfit for the job and lead to his firing in the season 9 episode "Loyalty (Part II)".
- Goren says Dr. Gyson's office reminds him of a riddle with two doors, two guards and one guarding heaven who always tells the truth and one guarding hell that always lies. The riddle asks that "if you had one question, what question would you ask to get to heaven?" Goren says Gyson will never get it, but Gyson says to give her time. She tells Goren the answer in the episode "To the Boy in the Blue Knit Cap".
Production Errors[]
- One of the photos on Teresa's desk is the graduation photo of Dr. Curtis from the season nine finale "Three-In-One".
- Detective Goren tells the M.E. that the olive oil and balsam found on the victim are the components of "myrrh", when in fact they are the components of "chrism", which is used for anointing in certain rites of the Church.
