Timothy "Tim" Pruiting is a gang leader and drug dealer who gang raped Monica Devries with the help of his accomplices Howard Metzler, Steven Hanauer, and Ryan Cutrona.

While under hypnosis, Monica is able to identify Tim as her rapist, which gives Max Greevey and Mike Logan a lead. Max and Logan make a deal with the youngest member of Pruiting's gang, Ryan Cutrona, to testify against him, and he accepts it. Greevey and Logan arrive at his home to find him high on drugs with a woman he was sleeping with, and they Mirandize him as he was attempting to resist his arrest. After his arrest, he denied any involvement with Monica's rape and claimed no one Mirandized him.
Greevey and Logan are told that the DNA samples from the rape were misplaced, which was able to implicate Tim. Greevey suggests that they have his accomplices Metzler and Hanauer roll on Pruiting by having their conversations recorded in an open cop car, which doesn't violate their right to privacy. The detectives and the DA listened to the recording of Metzler and Hanauer confessing to the rape and saying that it was Pruiting's idea. Pruiting is willing to give up anyone for a deal, but Benjamin Stone declines and takes him, Metzler, and Hanauer to trial. Tim is found guilty of rape in the first degree and is sentenced. Howard and Steven were found guilty of attempted rape in the second degree. (L&O: "The Violence of Summer")
