Law and Order

Tim Schwimmer is the legal representation of serial killer Mark Bruner.

History[]

Schwimmer grew up in Lakeview and wanted to work in Wall Street, but he wound up working as a paralegal, believing it to be his closest shot at rising in the food chain. He then moved on to Legal Aid. Looking for a career-breaker, Schwimmer took on Bruner's case, with Bruner being convicted and sentenced to death for the rapes and murders of two girls. To avoid the death sentence, Bruner revealed that he killed at least fifteen other girls and that Schwimmer had recently seen the bodies to confirm that the confession was real and that the plea deal would be solid.

Schwimmer tried to convince Bruner to reveal the location to EADA McCoy and ADA Southerlyn so that it wouldn't be covered by attorney-client privilege. However, Bruner enjoyed the chaos he was causing and refused. Desperate to find the bodies, the Manhattan District Attorney's Office leaked the situation to the New York Daily News. As a result, protesters picketed his outside his home, sent him death threats, and threw items at him. Schwimmer confronted McCoy with a copy of the newspaper, but McCoy implicitly threatened to allow the harassment to continue unless they find the bodies.

McCoy eventually escalated to having Schwimmer arrested as an accomplice, since, according to Bruner's word, he had to physically open and shut a container door to see the dead girls and leave them behind. Schwimmer ultimately decided to adhere to his oath as an attorney and refuse to disclose the information. Schwimmer was ultimately convicted of accessory to murder, but it is unclear if he revealed the bodies' location. (L&O: "Bodies")
