Quotes[]
- Dr. Paula Gyson: When you malfunction, I'm trying to find out what happens and when. Yes, I'm evaluating you, but I'm also trying to help you. Right now, I think the job is vital to you. The job gives you structure, sense of purpose. But you're convinced that it's the only thing that defines you. You think, without the puzzle, you don't matter. It's a lie, but it's the only one you've chosen to believe. Consider this. If everyone lies, by definition, that has to include you. And if that's true, there's no way you can trust your own judgment. Not when you put the job before the man. There's so much more to you than that.
Background information and Notes[]
- Dr. Gyson solves the riddle that Goren told her in their first therapy session from the episode "The Consoler".
- New York Giants running back Brandon Jacobs makes a cameo as a bouncer. The original finale of Law & Order (before its 2022 revivial), "Rubber Room", also featured a cameo by an athlete, Lindsey Vonn.
- A flashback montage of Goren from various episodes is shown during his therapy session.
- The final scene in the montage is from the end of the episode "Untethered".
- Actor Thad Luckinbill's twin brother, Trent, briefly appears in this episode as the dead body of Thomas Gaffney.
- The end scene of Eames picking up Goren at end of his therapy session resembles a scene in the episode "Siren Call" when Goren goes to pick up Eames at the end of her therapy session.
- Another episode in the Law & Order franchise that centers around a dating app is the Law & Order: Special Victims Unit episode "Sorry If It Got Weird For You".
